Resource: Dissemination
Web Dissemination
The database and supplementary materials will be made available online. A user interface will be constructed to enable complex querying of the database along with a cross-referencing facility to highlight appropriate resources within the supplementary material. The interface will be dynamically generated and will guide users through a series of choices about the kinds of information they can retrieve (based upon categories: geography, period, source, clothing type, social status and so on). Users will be able to retrieve qualitative textual data (transcripts/excerpts), statistical information (e.g. number of clergy in urban Northamptonshire parishes who receive bequests of clothing in the wills of their congregation), and images.
CD Dissemination
A CD-Rom version of the resource will be published. This version will retain the same functionality as the web-based version, but in addition will provide a number of additional features (principally those elements which are limited through online data access). This version will make it possible to dispense with the user interface so that users who are comfortable with using data can have access to the raw material via the software of their choice. More importantly this will also enable users to design their own queries without the direction of the user interface if they so wish.
Full documentation will be provided along with the resource, so that all references are provided and the data structure (and codes) used in the database are explained, and the research decisions taken when entering data recorded and explained. A detailed user guide will be available to explain the user interface.
